Schlossalm – Angertal – Stubnerkogel
Schlossalm – the family & adventure mountain
The Schlossalm in Bad Hofgastein offers something for everyone: all-out action or pure enjoyment on the funslope, or a real race atmosphere on the Skimovie hill – a permanent race piste with automatic video capture. The 650 m long funslope on the Schlossalm promises great times for the whole family. With lots of kickers, butterboxes and a tunnel, it is a marvelous course and, along with the Skimovie hill, one of the Schlossalm’s top highlights. Freeriders in search of off-piste variant challenges won’t be disappointed on the Schlossalm either. In addition to the numerous freeride slopes, there is also an official ski route that is protected from avalanches. It begins right next to the mountain terminal of the Kaserebenbahn lift and leads to the Angertal Ski Center. Right at the trailhead of the Katstall ski route is a Freeride Info Base, just like in Sportgastein, providing freeriders with all vital information. Particularly popular with ambitious skiers is the Hohe Scharte Nord – 10.4 km in length and dropping 1,440 vertical meters, it is actually one of the longest runs in the Eastern Alps. Thanks to the “non-stop to the top” lift experience provided by the Schlossalmbahn, the broad pistes and exhilarating runs for ultimate skiing enjoyment are now quicker and easier to reach than ever.
Angertal Ski Center – your first moments in the snow
Angertal Ski Center provides a perfect practice area for first experiences in the snow as well as for rookie skiers and those returning to winter sports after an extended hiatus. The numerous practice elements, the Judau practice tow-lift, numerous conveyor lifts as well as the Gasti Park offer an ideal environment for easing into winter sports. Mascot “Gasti” plays a leading role at Angertal Ski Center, popular with big and small alike. Angertal Ski Center serves essentially as a link and hub between the two ski mountains of the Schlossalm and Stubnerkogel.
Stubnerkogel – see and do!
The Stubnerkogel in Bad Gastein doesn’t only promise breathtaking 360° panoramic views of mountain landscapes, it also has the perfect offer in store for each and every skier. One particular highlight is the spectacular 140 m long footbridge, suspended 28 m above an abyss. This suspension bridge is actually one of the highest in Europe, guaranteeing nerve-tingling excitement and knees of Jell-O, as well as magical vistas out across the surrounding mountains. The Glocknerblick viewing platform is located close to the Stubnerkogelbahn mountain terminal and is impossible to overlook, not least because of its extraordinary form. As the name suggests, summer- and wintertime visitors are treated to the awe-inspiring sight of the Grossglockner, the highest mountain in Austria at 3798 m. For a different “point of view”, we suggest the Talblick viewing platform, from which you can enjoy marvelous vistas to the north in the direction of Bad Hofgastein. This viewing platform, which also features broad steps to sit on, invites you to pause and “take the weight off” for a few relaxing moments. The architecture of the platform gives this location the aura of an open-air cinema. This sightseeing attraction and rest area can be found below the transmitter station and is accessible year-round. Yet another special highlight on the Stubnerkogel is the Felsenweg, situated approximately 400 m south of the mountain terminal. The Felsenweg paths leads past craggy rockfaces and across a small footbridge to another strikingly scenic spot. The views along this path are breathtaking and incomparable, and should definitely be on your to-do list at some point during your day of skiing.
The Stubnerkogel also has a hotspot in store for freeskiers and freestylers. Snowpark Gastein – with its variety-rich and perfectly shaped set-up including over 30 obstacles – has a lot to offer. And because it boasts its own tow-lift right next to the snowpark, numerous action-packed runs are guaranteed.
Here you can also explore live impressions from the ski area as well as current weather conditions.
